Our New Home!

December 10, 2021

This is the place!  We have just over 4,000 square feet, with 4 bedroom, 4 baths. We're situated on nearly 10 acres, and we have a 2.5 attached car garage, and another detached garage or shed.  All this, located just north of Holmen, Wisconsin, in the little township of Holland.  Our closing date was actually June 10th, 6 months ago; so we've been here 6 months!  It is everything we needed and then some!

Also, on an adjoining property is another small house that my brother-in-law bought.  It's a little small for him, so he's gradually going to add on to it, starting with a new roof.

Our master bath only had a whirlpool bath, no shower; so we have hired a contractor to actually remove the whirlpool bath, and put in a walk-in, tiled shower.  It makes more sense, since we are only getting older!  Given time, we also would like to carpet the downstairs basement, and do just a little painting on the main floor.  Perhaps in time, too, we will upgrade the kitchen a little.  It would definitely be nice to have granite countertops, and perhaps a tiled backsplash!  We'll see!

The only thing wrong with the place, is it's location.  It really is a lot further west than we wanted to be; but ya can't have everything!  Houses just get bought up way too fast, and there isn't always something located just where you want it!  If I haven't mentioned it, our eldest daughter and her family live out in Tomah, about a 45-minute drive to the east of us.  Definitely, a lot further drive than we were anticipating!  In addition, our church is located almost just as far; it takes nearly 40 minutes to drive that.  We could have settled for a church a lot closer; but this was a church we were a part of years ago, and it only made sense to come back to it.  It feels like home, and its members feel like family!  Just as it should be!  :)

All that is needed now, is for my husband to get a job!  He is retired from the Army, and we've certainly been able to live on his retirement pay; he just feels like it'd be better if he could work a little longer, so that is the plan.  We'll see what he is able to come up with!

We've just been staying busy, getting the house set up and enjoying life!  I, of course, enjoy photography, and now that we're in Wisconsin, I am still enjoying that hobby!

The move is on!

Well, this is a long time in coming, but we are now in the process of a move back to Wisconsin!  YEA!!  I almost can't believe it's true!  We're a week away from putting our house on the market, here in Washington state.  We're actually awaiting our real estate broker; he's going to be taking pictures of the place for online viewing.  Then come Friday evening, my husband and I are heading out on a road trip to Wisconsin, for multiple reasons:  (1) house hunting, of course! (2) to drive his Corvette back and put it in storage (yes, my husband loves cars, and we have too many cars!  ha!) and (3) a road trip just sounds like fun, doesn't it?!  We're planning to stop at Grand Teton National Park in Wyoming.  We both love photography, and the last time I came through there, I didn't do it justice!  So yes, you might call this one of the places on my bucket list!  We have been so busy downsizing, cleaning, and organizing, that yes, we are more than ready for a break!  I am nearly as excited about the road trip as I am about the move (nearly!)

The housing market has just been crazy this year!  The house we are in right now, we purchased back in August, 2015.  It has nearly doubled, I kid you not!  It also helps that we are located in a very sought-after neighborhood, so we shouldn't have any trouble selling this place!  We may even have a bidding war!  That's exciting in itself!  Yessss!

As for Wisconsin, it's just as bad there!  It seems every time I find a house I like, it gets bought up in no time!  Houses seem to be just flying off the market!!  I'm almost afraid what will be--or won't be--available when we get there!  It is definitely a sellers' market!  Yikes!

Trying times, and a trying of our faith...but God just says, "Trust Him!"  So that is what we are endeavoring to do...every step of the way!  Our God is always good...all the time!!  😊

COUNTRY LIVING

Country Living

It's grassroots

It's simple

It's basic, not plush

Uncomplicated

Uncluttered

Unhurried

Unrushed

It's relaxed,

Unpolluted,

Unequaled,

Unmatched.

Welcome!

Hi!  Welcome to my blog!

This is a blog focused on country living.  I love country living!  We used to live in Wisconsin; we've lived there twice before.  Our eldest daughter still lives there with her family.  We'd like to retire there, if possible.

My husband retired from the Army two years ago; he is now in his second career, and as I said, we'd like to move to Wisconsin shortly.  We are actually empty-nesters as of last week!  I am so excited!  It's been a long time in coming!

We'd like to be out in the country...not necessarily a farmhouse, and probably not an actual farm with farm animals; but at least an acre or two, where we can just relax and enjoy living.

My husband just got a call this morning to set up an interview with Fort McCoy.  This could be our big break.  We are hoping!
